Produced in a limited run of just 2,000 models, one look at the MINI John Cooper Works GP and it’s clear that this is a real race car. The distinctive rear spoiler and the sporty aprons give it a striking appearance, while the red detailing on the bonnet and the large rear diffuser underline its racing heritage.
But a race car is only as good as the heart that beats inside it – and what a thumping heartbeat it has. Its turbocharged four-cylinder engine demonstrates a healthy appetite for revs, capable of 160kW/218hp, with a maximum torque of 280nm. A top speed of 150mph makes it the fastest road-registered MINI ever made, achieving 0-62mph in just 6.3 seconds and when it took on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife track, it smashed it in an impressive 8 minutes and 23 seconds.
It weighs just 1,160kg, making it one of the lightest vehicles in its class. This leads to awesome acceleration, great handling through corners and performance that packs a real punch, not just on the race track but on the open road as well.
