The Toyota Prius Plug-in is a popular buy with used car lovers, and their desire to get their hands on one has ensured that resale values of year-old examples have remained extremely strong. A 12-month-old Prius Plug-in with 20,000 miles on the clock will retain 67% of its £28,395* purchase price, according to Glass’s guide, which means the car will be worth £3,000 more than original forecasts made at its launch in July 2012 predicted.
The UK government and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have begun a campaign, encouraging car buyers to ‘Go Ultra Low’ and to switch to an ultra-low emissions vehicle running on electric. Alternatively, a plug-in hybrid that combines an electric motor with a range-extending combustion engine.
Thanks to supremely low CO2 emissions of just 49g/km and combined fuel economy of 134mpg, the Prius Plug-in achieves the Go Ultra Low status.
