The Citigo and Yeti have scooped three wins in this year’s Auto Express used car awards. The Citigo won the category for best used city car, while the Yeti was named best used crossover and the overall used car of the year.
Auto Express described the Citigo, which was also named their favourite city car for the fourth year in a row in the 2015 New Car Awards as “a fantastic used buy, offering exceptional value for money. The Citigo is smartly styled and solidly built… second-hand buyers will be in safe hands with this compact four-seater,”
On top of that, the Citigo was also voted second for running costs in the Driver Power 2015 survey, which is primarily thanks to its decent range of engines. The most economical model is the three-door 1.0-litre 60bhp GreenTech, which promises to deliver 68.9mpg economy and CO2 emissions of only 95g/km.
Talking about the overall winner, Auto Express said: “The Yeti has more than proven itself as a new car, and today it’s more desirable than ever as a second-hand buy because it’s immensely practical, reliable and offers fantastic value for money. The ownership experience is first class – the Yeti is a three-time winner of our Driver Power survey, while it debuted at number two in 2011 and again 2015. That’s a staggering track record to be in the two for five years.”
The big, boxy body means there’s enough room inside to rival some van-based MPVs, and it’ll take plenty of family use in its stride. Mid-spec SE and slightly higher spec Elegance models offer decent kit, and may have been upgraded with the likes of leather and sat-nav, while the flagship Monte Carlo and Laurin & Klement are among the best equipped crossovers when it comes to luxury kit.
