Say Goodbye to the Defender

The last Defender rolls off the production line today.

Driven by everyone, loved by all and sold across the world - over two million have been made since the original Land Rover Series began production in Solihull in 1948.

Few other cars have managed to attract drivers from such a wide variety of backgrounds, and the iconic 4X4 can attribute its worldwide success to its old-school character, charm and durability, comfortably ranking the Defender among the most iconic vehicles of all time.

However, the model’s popularity as an on-road vehicle has waned and has been overtaken by legislation and technology, rendering some features out of date.

There are talks that Land Rover intends to build a replacement to the Defender, details are minimal but Land Rover has suggested the new car will be significantly more cost effective to produce and far more efficient to run.
