MINI Superleggera concept revealed

Created in co-operation with legendary Italian design and coach building house Touring Superleggera, this two seat concept car hints at what we can expect from MINI as their next stylish roadster.

Making its premiere at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como in Italy, the Mini Superleggera is a blend of traditional Italian design melded with modern day Britannia.

This retro designed Mini Superleggera concept was a partnership between Mini’s Munich-based design department and Touring Superleggera’s coach building works in Milan, with the former leading the way on the style forefront, whilst the latter carefully crafted the design into construction.

The visionary design takes some inspiration from the latest MINI hatch, as seen through the LED ringed headlights, gaping grilles and the short overhangs.

There’s also an abundance of classic sporting touches throughout the design that separates this concept car from anything else within the MINI line up, such as the raked windscreen, the low-slung body and the flowing ‘Touring’ line that runs from ahead of the front wheels all the way to the rear wheels.

Looking at the rear we notice the elegant tail fin attached to the boot as well as tail lamps designed to resemble the Union Jack flag.

The interior has been design to be simple yet elegant, with a single untreated sheet of aluminium used for the dashboard and large centrally mounted monitor.

Bars in the doors also pay homage to Mini’s British roots by joining the tail lamps in resembling the Union Jack.
