Audi Reveals New Models at Frankfurt Motorshow

The new R8 V10 RWS - The Audi supercar in its purest form

The Coupe and Spyder variants are first Audi production models with rear wheel-drive as a limited edition, and is planned to be produced in a limited run of 999 examples in both coupé and open-top Spyder bodystyles.

“The R8 V10 RWS is made for purists - a limited edition model for customers with an appreciation for essential driving enjoyment,” said Audi Sport boss Stephen Winkelmann. “With a V10 engine and rear-wheel drive, it brings the driving concept of our R8 LMS racing car to the street.”

Subtle styling tweaks

Despite the reduction in weight and a superior power-to-weight ratio, the rear-wheel-drive R8 V10 RWS can’t match the quattro for outright acceleration but at 199mph, the new model matches the existing R8 for top speed.

A host of subtle styling tweaks help to set the R8 V10 RWS apart from the R8 V10 quattro, including a matt black grille insert and air vents up front, plus a great visual package consisting of red stripes across the bonnet, roof and rear.

Thanks to the deletion of the propshaft and drive system within the front axle saves the Coupe is 50kg lighter than R8 Coupé V10 (Spyder 40kg lighter)


R8 Interior

Inside, the rear-wheel-drive model comes with standard sport seats in leather and Alcantara. It also receives an emblem denoting its build number.

The chassis and steering system of the R8 V10 RWS has been reworked in line with the switch to rear-wheel drive. It rides on standard 19in wheels shod with 245/35 front and 295/35 rear tyres.

Audi RS4 unveiled to the world

The all-new Audi RS4 has been unveiled to the world press at the Frankfurt motor show

Packing a 2.9 TFSI V6 biturbo it produces 450 PS and 600Nm of torque, doing 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds. This new one is 80kg lighter and 17 per cent more efficient than previous generation. Standard UK specification includes Virtual Cockpit and sport differential.


Inspired by the Audi 90 quattro

The design of the fourth-generation Audi RS 4 Avant is inspired by the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO. Massive air inlets with RS honeycomb structure and the wide, flat, single-frame grille define the front end of the car. Its wheel arches are 30 millimetres wider than those on the A4 Avant, and are given added emphasis by the quattro blisters.

The RS-specific diffuser insert, oval tailpipes of the RS exhaust system and the RS roof edge spoiler make for a distinctive look at the rear end. It gets an all-new optional exterior colour from Audi exclusive: Nogaro blue pearl effect, which recalls the first-generation of the high-performance Avant that broke cover back in 1999.

The all-new Audi RS 4 Avant rides on 19-inch forged aluminium wheels as standard, with optional 20-inch wheels as an alternative.

The RS 4 Avant will be available from launch with a high level of standard specification in line with the recently-launched RS 5 Coupé. This includes:
