A-Class voted safest car in its class - beating rivals

2018's best overall result

European car safety organisation Euro NCAP recently announced its annual ‘Best in Class’ winners for 2019 following a year of varied crash testing.

The Mercedes-Benz A‑Class was identified as the standout performer amongst small family cars and this year’s overall best result.

This means that the model represents the best of its body styles within the context of 2018’s testing, which has been more stringent than in previous years.

“In 2018 we introduced tough new tests, with a particular focus on Vulnerable Road User protection,” said Euro NCAP Secretary General Michiel van Ratingen.

“The Mercedes A-Class clearly demonstrates that car-makers are striving for the highest levels of protection and that Euro NCAP’s assessments are a catalyst for these crucial safety improvements.”

Euro NCAP is a Europe-wide organisation that forms the basis of car safety testing, especially crash tests, across the continent.
