The All-New Isuzu D-Max has been awarded a maximum 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Safety was a key priority during the design stage of the D-Max and the rating applies to all double-cab models with standard equipment.

The D-Max secured 32.2 points or 84% for adult occupant safety and 42.2 points or 86% for child occupant safety. The passenger compartment remained stable in the offset frontal test. It scored maximum points in the side pole impact test.

The Euro-spec D-Max comes equipped with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system that can detect vulnerable road users. It was awarded 37.6 points or 69% for pedestrian and cyclist protection.

The All-New D-Max is the first pickup truck to attain the 5-star rating since the more stringent ‘Adult Occupant Protection’ requirements, particularly from side impacts, have been introduced.

The D-Max scored 13.4 points or 83% for safety assists. Besides AEB, which is standard fitment, the pick-up also comes with a driver monitoring system which uses steering and camera inputs to identify whether the driver is alert and warns the driver if impaired driving is detected. The lane support system corrects the steering of the car if it is drifting out of the lane, while a camera based traffic sign recognition system identifies the local speed limit.

Expected to arrive in the UK in 2021.
