The New Toyota Yaris has been named the 2021 European Car of the Year. A jury of 59 automotive journalists from across Europe awarded the honour, and praised the Yaris's hybrid electric technology for its low emissions, smooth driving characteristics and accessible price point. Judges also pointed out its class-leading design, dynamic performance and safety.
This award comes 21 years after the innovative first generation model was given the honour in 2000. Ever since, Yaris has remained a shortlist choice by Car of the Year judges, with each new generation being consistently recognised during its launch year at the annual awards ceremony.
The 2021 European Car of the Year award comes just a few days after new Yaris became the best-selling car in Europe for the first time, a clear sign that customers agree with the jury’s opinion.
