Toyota models earnt a brace of honours in the Electrified Top 50 Awards, 2023. Toyota Yaris continues to set the benchmark in the Best Hybrid Small Car category, winning for the second year in a row, whilst Corolla takes the Best Hybrid Medium Estate.
Their success and inclusion, alongside the exciting new all-electric bZ4X SUV, in the top 50 rankings, highlight the real-world effectiveness of Toyota’s multi-path technology approach to achieving sustained reductions in CO2 emissions – a strategy that includes hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid electric, fuel cell electric powertrains, and battery electric.
Iain Robertson Diesel and Eco Car Editor, announced Yaris’s award saying: “Our favourite small hybrid is unchanged from last year, because nothing has dethroned the excellent Yaris Hybrid. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine and electric motor make it nimble to drive, with tidy handling and a comfortable ride.”
He continues, turning to Corolla he comments: “If you need a hybrid estate, look no further than the UK-built Corolla, which is not only cheap to run and good to own, but also as reliable as a lump hammer. A facelift for 2023 added some welcome extra power, so even the 1.8-litre version should feel nippy, and comfortably top 60mpg.”
He also notes Toyota’s warranty programme, which gives up to 10 years’ or 100,000 miles cover, subject to servicing at an authorised Toyota workshop*, which boosts the appeal of both models.
