The New Audi A6 Plug-in Hybrid

Audi uses three decades of experience to create this quietly impressive executive range.

The new Audi A6 plug-in hybrid is the culmination of three decades of experience that began in 1989 with the Audi duo model. As a result, this new solution for drivers who don’t want to compromise their driving experience, but want to be environmentally conscious at the same time, delivers on both fronts.

An Electric Experience

Up to 34 miles can be driven completely electronically in the new hybrid, as confirmed by WLTP testing. This means that the car drives with zero local emissions and almost silently, gaining a top speed of up to 84mph when fully electric. Testing also confirms that, when the petrol engine is used, it registers combined emissions of as few as 35g/km and a top speed of up to 152mph – resulting in as little as 10% taxation for company car drivers. Both of these scenarios do however depend on the vehicle specification.

When driving, Audi has created three different driving modes to enable customers to manage their daily journeys more efficiently too. The driver can choose “Hybrid” for an efficient combination of both engine types, or “EV” to use the electric engine only (ideal for daily journeys). The final option, “Hold” can be used when the driver wants to conserve the electrical energy.

Refined Sustainability

Providing an efficient and intelligent charging system, Audi suggests that using a domestic AC 7kW wallbox using the Type 2 cable for the A6 50 TFSI e is best combined with the free myAudi app – which is available on Android and iOS. Without the app, plugging in the vehicle to charge takes around two and a half hours as standard. However with the app, the user can take advantage of off-peak electricity supply periods by pre-setting the charging schedule, they can also remotely adjust the temperature of the car and more to ensure a ready-to-drive vehicle when they next use it.

The myAudi app can also help you when you need to use a public charging point when out on the roads. Not only does is list charging points available around the country, the app can also utilise the use of the charging points as part of the e-tron service - available to TFSI e model owners as standard.

The new Audi model is sustainable, but it still stands out as pure Audi refinement. Its exterior is still recognisable as an A6 and combines with a variety of different alloy wheel sizes, depending on which specification you go for. All of the models include the Audi Virtual Cockpit, smartphone and music interfaces, navigation and a MMI Touch Response system as standard.

If you decided to go for the more modest Sport model, you would enjoy lowered suspension, Audi’s signature LED lights and the choice 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels (if you chose the S-line). If you preferred larger wheels and some more stylish elements - including privacy glass, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, electric steering, power door closer and more, you could opt for the Black Edition or Vorsprung versions.

Your journey towards becoming more sustainable doesn’t need to compromise on driving experience.
