The latest addition to the e-tron family, the Q4 concept, boasts state-of-the-art technology and crisp driving lines to provide Audi drivers with an electric driving experience.
By releasing the details of the car now, Audi aims to give customers the opportunity to start thinking about whether they prefer the SUV or Coupe version ahead of its release in 2021.
Fully electric and totally capable, the 225 Kw electric motor on both versions of the Q4 e-tron provide more than 450km of range based on WLTP standards and takes 30 minutes to reach 80% charging capacity.
Not only that, but the car utilises the latest optimisation technology, to ensure the output is as efficient as it can possibly be. That being said, if you wanted a little more power, when you put your foot down, the torque is distributed around the car in a fraction of a second to provide optimum efficiency and performance. The system also makes the driver feel safer, as it will automatically respond to any weather conditions and any road surface.
The exterior design of the Q4 e-tron concept really turns heads, with its longer and wider frame and large 22-inch wheels, giving it a commanding presence on the road. The aim was to make the design flow with natural lines and contrasting colours to really make it stand out. Something that is further detailed by the kinetic grey paint on top, which contrasts with the dray grey found on the lower parts of the vehicle.
Inside the Q4 you will notice that the exterior design flows seamlessly into the interior, repeating the contrasting colours and materials throughout.
For example, the upper section of the door rail and dash panel use white and beige textiles which directly contrasts with the dark floor covering – which is made of recycled materials. The seats are finished with high-quality Alacantra material and the rest of the interior is covered with frosted Pexiglas and a multi-layer paint finish.
You will find a host of the latest Audi technologies, such as the virtual cockpit and large head-up display. Drivers will notice the important display elements of charge level, speed and navigation is located directly behind the steering wheel, with the 12.3 inch infotainment console located in the centre.
If you really wanted to get the most out of these systems, you can take advantage of the new augmented reality feature, which can show arrows for turning directly on the road, rather than as a satellite image.
All of this technology and new electric motor gives you a lot of things, one of which is increased capacity. Something that the Q4 has in abundance, particularly now that elements such as the gear level and hand-brake are not required, allowing the inclusions of different storage compartments.
The Audi Q4 e-tron concept is set to start production, ready to be released in 2021. This is another key step in Audi’s electric offensive, as they hope to achieve up to 40% of their sales with electric models worldwide by 2025.
