Golf GTI TCR is now available to order

Volkswagen’s latest release in its GTI range, the TCR, is now available to order. The new car takes inspiration from its racing namesake, twice the winner of the international Touring Car Racing series.

It tops the GTI range, with 290PS channelled through a seven-speed DSG gearbox, letting it achieve a 0-62 time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 164mph*. The TCR also sees improvements in cooling and has two additional radiators, with high-performance brakes as standard.

Its front and rear bumpers, matte black exterior mirrors and TCR sticker on the rear prove that the design of the TCR has been made to be a step above the normal GTI. Exclusive 18-inch ‘Quaranta’ alloy wheels also come as standard, while on the interior, TCR seats, a leather multi-function steering wheel and an Alcantara gear gater also come standard.

The TCR is available in three and five-door models, and produces a combined consumption of 42.2 mpg from its four cylinder 16-valve engine, while producing CO2 levels of 153g/km.

A £2,000 option is also available on the TCR, comprising of 19-inch Reifnitz alloy wheels, lowered suspension fitted with Dynamic Chassis Control and the top speed restriction increased from 155 mph to 164 mph.

A Pure Grey paint colour is available for the first time in any Volkswagen GTI, which can be complemented by exclusive optional honeycomb decals on the side of the car, and an optional black roof.

Prices start at £34,315 for the GTI TCR three-door DSG model. The five-door DSG is priced at £34,790.
