The new Volvo S60 is a sports-saloon at its finest

Sports-saloons make up for a large sector of the motor industry in today’s market. The likes of the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class dominate this market for their stylish looks and impressive performance. However, the new Volvo S60 is serious competition for the German sports-saloons, as its elegant exterior and intuitive technology is a cut above the rest.

Volvo Cars’ increasing success in recent years has not been a mystery. Its new cars, from the refined S90 to the stunning V60, are some of the best looking cars on the market – and come with great tech as well as the best safety systems around.

The new S60 continues this trend with an exterior that is both elegant and sporty, and brings with it Volvo’s Swedish flare. Striking LED lights bring the front and rear of the new S60 to life, and from the side, its silhouette is athletic and low.

As for the interior, quality and style continues. There is a great amount of space, and Volvo’s big central touchpad lets you access everything you need on your day-to-day commutes intuitively. There is full smartphone integration, with apps including Spotify and Google local search. Volvo’s On Call service further brings you into the future, by letting you control the car’s heating and satnav via your phone, as well as remotely activating the car’s horn and lights to help you locate it in a crowded carpark.

For now, the S60 is offered with only one engine – the T5 2.0-litre petrol. This engine is surprisingly responsive however, and is also suitably quiet. Overtaking on country roads and motorways is a breeze, giving the S60 an unusual sporty character. An eight-speed automatic gearbox provides smooth gear changes and suits the car’s refined and elegant nature.
