Goodwood SpeedWeek has finally arrived, and we’re excited to see the special cars that will be attending over the weekend (16th – 18th October). Despite coronavirus restrictions, the Goodwood team have managed to still host an event for viewers to watch through the ‘Speedweek hub’, which features interactive elements and two separate streams (Track Stream & SpeedWeek Stream) so that you don’t miss a moment of the action.
Unlike other Goodwood events, SpeedWeek lets cars go where they’ve never been before at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, and some will even be attempting the outright circuit record through the Timed Shootout. In order to make sure you don’t miss out on the action, we’ve outlined below some of the key highlights over SpeedWeek from the brands we represent.
Don’t miss the First Glance showing towards the start of SpeedWeek, where an abundance of new cars will be on display for you to explore via the livestream. You’ll be able to take a look at the new Land Rover Defender, as well as Toyota’s new Supra and the BMW M5 Lci just to name a few.
Shortly after First Glance, and to celebrate 50 years since the first Range Rover was created, Goodwood are putting on an exclusive display where they’ll follow the journey of the Range Rover, with a very special on-track demonstration as well! Tune into the livestream at 15:48 to find out what the on-track surprise is and to broaden your knowledge on the iconic Range Rover.
Fifty years ago, Porsche won the Le Mans 24 Hours for the first time with the 917. Over the next five decades, the German manufacturer has eclipsed all others, with 18 further victories, the most recent being in 2017 with the 919 Hybrid. To mark the 50th anniversary of that famous win, Goodwood is celebrating the history of Porsche at Le Mans with everything from a 1958 718 RSK to the 2015 919 Hybrid.
Catch an all-Jaguar face-off at the head-to-head event on Saturday at 10.20am. The legendary XK120 will face the iPace and Jaguar’s Formula E car in an unmissable coverage to see how technology has progressed from the prestigious British brand.
BMW are attending this year’s SpeedWeek with a raft of signature ‘M’ cars to demonstrate their unique designs, sporty characteristics and race-inspired components. If you’re a big BMW fan, this won’t be one to miss.
For an exclusive look at the history of Gazoo Racing, tune into the livestream just after 11am on Saturday. Acting as the racing arm of Toyota, Gazoo Racing has been in the motorsport business for more than 60 years, and the team at SpeedWeek will be looking back at what this remarkable company has achieved. This is not one you’ll want to miss either, as they will be pitting a Toyota GR Supra against a GT4 Supra around the track.
As one of the most successful manufacturers of all time, Porsche has one of the richest histories of any automotive manufacturer. SpeedWeek will delve into the German brand’s past, and will also be revealing a new model for the award-winning Porsche range.
Following on from the Saturday morning’s BMW Motorsport Demonstration, BMW will also have a section of the afternoon for you to tune into too. From The Mille Miglia, to Le Mans and Formula 1, BMW has travelled the breadth of motor racing history, and you’ll now be able to see how they are continuing that story with their new M cars.
The new Land Rover Defender is set to be put to the test by Dermot O’Leary in a challenge that the English television presenter has been given. It is going to have to be quite a challenge to disturb the performance of the unrelenting new Defender!
