2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid

If anyone thinks the saloon car might have had its day, the Toyota Camry Hybrid would like to set the record straight. With more than 19 million sales in more than 100 countries worldwide, Camry’s pedigree is exceptional and it continues to evolve to reinforce its position within Toyota’s model line-up.

Having returned to the UK market as an all-hybrid, 8th generation model in 2019, it’s now set to benefit from a series of styling, equipment and safety upgrades. The new 2021 Camry will reach showrooms in early spring next year.

Styling

Built on Toyota’s GA-K platform, Camry has a low and wide stance that will gain even more visual emphasis with the introduction of a new front grille and bumper treatment, with new finishes for the lower grille and side ornamentation. New-design 17 and 18-inch wheels will also be introduced, the former with “twisted-V” spokes and the later comprising paired slim and twisted spokes with contrasting bright machined and dark finishes.

Safety

Camry will gain the latest Toyota Safety Sense features, adding Lane Trace Assist with steering assistance to help keep the car centred in traffic lane; Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which links with the Road Sign Assist to automatically bring cruising speed within the enforced limit; Emergency Steering Assist; and Intersection Turn Assistance, which recognises oncoming traffic or pedestrians crossing the road in the path of the car as it makes a turn at a junction.

Interior

The key change in the cabin will be a new nine-inch multimedia display, mounted on the centre console with a “floating” effect. The upgraded multimedia system has faster software and faster screen response, operated with a combination of touchscreen and button/dial controls. The multimedia package will also give Camry easy smartphone integration, using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Alongside the technology updates, Camry will also offer (according to equipment grade) beige or black leather upholstery with a stylish herringbone perforation pattern to allow for seat ventilation. New instrument panel finishes will be available: a black engineered wood with an organic base pattern overlaid with straight lines, and a Titanium Line pattern, a low-contrast, regular geometric pattern with a three-dimensional effect.
