The Land Rover Defender achieves the title of Supreme Winner Women’s World Car of the Year 2021.

This is the latest in a series of international honours for the most capable Land Rover ever made and is the first time Land Rover has won the top title at the Women’s World Car of the Year (WWCOTY) awards. The Defender was named as the Best Medium SUV of 2021, before then claiming the top prize at the WWCOTY awards.

The Women’s World Car of the Year awards are the only car awards which is comprised exclusively of female judges, a total of 50 motoring journalists across five continents, judging the latest car models each year.

The Defender redefines adventure for the 21st century and remains true to the pioneering spirit of Land Rover. The iconic vehicle in terms of name, capability and shape is available in a variety of body designs and can be further personalised with four Accessory packs. The personality of the original Defender is embraced inside this new vehicle, emphasising simplicity and practicality. The length of a compact family hatchback, the Defender 90 can accommodate six occupants in the vehicle, whilst the Defender 110 offers a five, six or 5+2 seating configuration.

Known for its off-road ruggedness, the Defender now raises the capability of on-road comfort also. Marta Garcia, the Executive President of Women’s World Car of the Year stated that “the Land Rover Defender is no longer just a SUV to cross the Amazon or go into the desert. Its latest reinvention invites you to travel by road in the same comfort as a luxury saloon. For this reason, and for its technology and comfort it has been chosen as the Best Car of the Year by the Women's World”.
