Volvo C40 Recharge

Volvo Cars are committed to a zero-emissions future, with their latest all electric Volvo C40 Recharge. The Volvo C40 Recharge is the brands first model designed as pure electric only, with all the benefits of an SUV but enhanced with a lower and stylish design.

The C40 Recharge follows on from the introduction of the XC40 Recharge model, with further electric models to be rolled out in the coming years. The brand has already set out to have 50% of its global sales to be from fully electric vehicles by 2025.

Henrik Green, Chief Technology Officer at Volvo Cars said "The C40 Recharge is fully electric, offered online only with a convenient care package and will be available for quick delivery. Getting a new Volvo was never this attractive.”

C40 Recharge

The rear view of the C40 Recharge has a striking design which is complemented with the lower roof line. When looking at the front view of the vehicle, customers will notice a brand new design which includes state-of-the-art pixel headlights. The interior of the C40 Recharge is available in a range of colours unique to the model and is completely leather free. There is also a higher seating position which provides better visibility.

For performance, the C40 Recharge has twin electric motors which are powered by a 78kWh battery. Together, those motors produce 402bhp, allowing the C40 Recharge to spring from 0- to 62-mph in 4.9 seconds. The C40 reaches 112mph at it’s top speed.

The fast charging battery can reach up to 80% capacity in approximately 40 minutes, giving the vehicle a driving range of up to 261 miles.

The C40 Recharge comes with the latest Volvo intuitive tech and built-in Google applications with unlimited data enabling the vehicle to receive updates and improvements.

With Google Maps fully integrated in the car and hands-free voice control enabled by Google Assistant, real-time traffic info and automatic rerouting let you reach your destination with less hassle. A built in route planner will alert you to when it’s time to charge your battery before power runs low. It also recommends when and where to charge, helping you enjoy a more relaxed journey.

Owning an all electric Volvo is better than ever for both you and the environment. The UK Government’s Plug-in car and van grant offers price deductions on a selection of electric vehicles. Full details can be found here.

Electric vehicles are also completely exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), more commonly known as road tax. This is because for cars registered after March 2001, the tax is calculated using the tailpipe’s CO2 emissions. A further bonus, electric cars can also get free parking in many areas of the UK.

The Volvo C40 Recharge will be available as part of Volvo's new ‘Care by Volvo’ subscription programme. The all-inclusive Care By Volvo subscription scheme provides a new purchasing option, where buyers pay a monthly fee that covers the cost of the car plus servicing, breakdown assistance and even insurance. Prices haven’t yet been confirmed, but the C40 is expected to be priced at over £50,000.

The Volvo C40 Recharge is due to go into production Autumn 2021 at Volvo’s factory in Belgium and will be available for purchase in 2022.
