The GR Supra from Toyota picks up the pace in 2021 motorsport.

As the Toyota Gazoo Racing international customer motorsports programme expands, you can expect to see the Toyota GR Supra on British and European racetracks again in 2021. This year has already seen a strong first season in the British GT Championship with the Toyota GR Supra, recording pole positions and fastest laps. These statistics have been achieved courtesy of drivers James Kell and Sam Smelt. However, this year’s drivers are yet to be announced to compete for the newly designed 2021 Toyota Gazoo Racing Trophy.

The GR Supra GT4 which is developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe, will continue to see action on racetracks this year with participation in three championships, beginning the competition in North America. This year will see a concept change for the Toyota Gazoo Racing Trophy, now meaning class wins and podiums for teams in selected European series are rewarded.

Taking part in 85 races last year, the Toyota Supra GT4 achieved 26 class podiums and 12 class wins. There are further experienced teams joining the GR Supra GT4 roster in 2021, excitement and success is expected in more than 10 championships.

The Managing Director at Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe, Rob Leupen has said: “After a good start with five European cars in 2020, the GR Supra GT4 will become a global player in GT4 racing this year”.

The competition remains true to its origins, with all Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe customer cars being eligible to take part. Therefore, teams competing with the GR Supra GT4 or the GT86 race and rally cars, can benefit from discounts on spare parts.

People can expect to see the GR Supra GT4 in various other championships across the globe this year, including the FEL Sports Car Championship in Canada, the Super Taikyu Series in Japan and championships in Italy.
