The Aygo X prologue

The Toyota Aygo has been recognised and currently still stands out for its bold design for a city car. The brand is driven to continue offering more boldness and striking designs for small car customers. As a leader in the European A-segment of vehicles, Toyota is committed to the future with plans to further provide entry point vehicles with impressive style and design. The Aygo, which was introduced to the market in 2005, has been Toyota’s most accessible car with a sense of fun and styling for customers.

Toyota’s European design headquarters have dedicated a team to deliver and bring forth a new bolder and stylish design for the Aygo. The result is the new Toyota Aygo X prologue. “With the Aygo X prologue, I believe we’ve demonstrated that a small car can still be big and bold in personality,” states Ken Billes, an Assistant Chief Designer at Toyota’s European design headquarters.

Exterior and features

The Aygo X prologue is not only even more stylish than ever, but the wheels are now bigger, there is more clearance from the road and drivers have a higher viewpoint for better visibility. The Aygo X prologue has a new, wedged roofline which enhances the strong sporty image of the vehicle. New features such as a large grille which is set lower to the ground complement the vehicle’s design. There are new enhancements to the rear skid plate, now equipped with a bicycle holder mount and the door mirrors house action cameras for capturing exploration moments.

The essence of the Aygo design has not been lost, just enhanced further with features and visual improvements such as a new integrated roof rack. The Aygo X prologue uses a bi-tone finish in regard to colour schemes, with additional metallic paint features depending on which colour scheme customers choose.

As a team, working together or remotely has been seamless from the hand drawn sketches, digital modelling, through to the virtual reality simulations. The end result has produced the Aygo X prologue and Ian Cartabiano, the European design headquarters President is “excited to see it revolutionising the segment”.
