The Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron was revealed worldwide on the 14th April 2021, setting a new standard for Audi interior and controls.
The premier event highlighted how the Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron are the rule, rather than the exception in sustainable premium mobility. Both vehicles will have impressive space inside and a choice of two battery variants, with the Sportback having a driving range of up to 316 miles.
The Director of Audi UK, Andrew Doyle stated “the Q4 e-tron models make the case for switching to sustainable premium mobility more clear-cut than ever”.
The exterior design of both vehicles are impressive with the short overhangs, larger wheels and adjustable cooling air vents. Innovative and stylish, the three-dimensional spoilers in front of the wheels optimise the airflow even further, providing almost nine miles to the driving range. The Q4 Sportback e-tron will feature a low coupe-style roofline, which has an expressive design as it ends at the rear where the spoiler sits. This design enables the Sportback e-tron to add up to another 7 miles to the driving range.
LED headlights are standard for each of the Q4 models but now have 16 individual LEDS, that provide a more precise targeted illumination. The Q4 e-tron and Sportback e-tron have a choice of eight paint finishes, with new metallic shade aurora violet. The sport versions have 19-inch graphite grey alloy wheels painted in metallic Manhattan grey. The higher versions have larger 20-inch and 21-inch wheels.
Inside the spacious SUV you will find front sport seats that are heated with electrically adjustable lumbar support, which will be standard for the UK models. The steering wheel has a more futuristic look and feel with the optionally heating available. Similar to functions you’d expect to see on a smartphone, the steering wheel has touch and swipe gestures, allowing easy navigation through lists whilst driving.
The interior is just as much expressive as the exterior, with an abundance of space for both front and rear passengers. The Q4 models provide a generous amount of legroom, one litre bottle holders in each door with a total of 25 litres of capacity throughout the cabin. The amount of space available is more comparable to a full-size SUV and exceeds that of existing class standards.
The performance of the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron compliment their visual designs. Both models perform well on rougher terrain due to a ground clearance of approximately 18 centimetres and being all-wheel-drive. Achieving 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 111mph, the models provide enough power whilst the driving ranges are expected to be 295 miles for the UK versions.
The premiere gave an in-depth insight into the models and have stated that both electric motors available will keep reserves for certain driving situations, highlighting the adaptability of the vehicles. Furthermore, there is an optional heat pump for both models available. The highly efficient heat pump rapidly heats or cools the interior using thermal losses from components and the outside air temperature.
Innovation can be seen throughout the Q4 e-tron and Sportback e-tron. The vehicles have been enhanced with touch-sensitive controls of the double-spoke steering wheels, a variety of driving modes via the central MMI touch display and a premium sound system by Sonos. Both models have enhanced safety with the front seats and all UK models will feature a sport version of the seats with integrated head restraints.
Sustainability has been a key aspect for the Q4 models, not only are they fully electric but the battery suppliers used are utilising only green electricity in their production processes. The Q4 models are stylish, innovative and are sure to grab the attention of customers in the coming months.
