Volvo plug-in hybrids have twin engines, an electric and petrol engine combined to deliver an efficient driving experience. The driver can also switch to pure electric mode, which allows the vehicle to only use the electric engine. Furthermore, most of Volvo's plug-in hybrid vehicles also feature an all-wheel drive (AWD) mode to optimise traction and stability on poor roads.

Switch drive modes at the push of a button. Find the mode to suit your journey, including pure mode, which offers emissions free driving.
Pure mode: Travel short journeys solely on electric power. For many people, a fully charged battery will get them to work fuel free and exhaust emissions free.
Hybrid mode: Lets the Twin Engine optimise itself, balancing petrol and electric input for maximum efficiency and minimum emissions.
Power mode: For high performance driving on command. Experience the full 390hp of both engines working in harmony.
The additional electric motor supports the combustion engine for low tailpipe emissions. Although when in Pure electric mode, you can commute with zero tailpipe emissions.
With CO2 emissions of 55g/km or less, our plug-in hybrids are a more conscientious choice. Over a 10-mile commute to work and back, you could save up to 46 bathtubs of CO2 every week compared to competitor petrol or diesel models.
