Volkswagen reveals new Sportline trim for Transporter T6.1 range

The Volkswagen Transporter T6.1 range has received a new Sportline trim option, offering a range of interior and exterior style upgrades.

This new model is based on the current Highline luxury trim. At the front, a red contrast grille strip runs between the headlights, while a spoiler sits at the trailing edge of the roof, with added illuminated side bars and newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. The LED headlights with high beam assist offer a safe night time driving experience, whilst the rearview camera and front and rear parking sensors help when reversing. Adaptive Cruise Control with City Emergency Braking and an anti-theft alarm system with interior monitoring are all specified as standard.

New exterior colours include Copper Bronze, Fortana Red, Indium Grey, and Ravenna Blue. Volkswagen is also releasing a Sportline Black Edition, which will include black alloy wheels, tinted glass, special decals and Eibach coilover suspension.

The interior enhancements include heated front seats, trimmed in a combination of Nappa leather and suede. A DAB radio, climate control and a central touchscreen with sat-nav feature in the digital cockpit display, in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keeping the driver fully informed.

The Transporter Sportline suspension has also been lowered by 30mm which should mean an increase in responsive handling compared to other members of the T6.1 line-up.

The Transporter’s 2.0-litre TDI 204 PS engine with 7-speed DSG gearbox is standard across all T6.1 Sportline models and is capable of 0-62mph in 8.9 seconds with a top speed of 126mph.

The Sportline trim will be available on both the short- and long-wheelbase models, as well as both the Kombi or panel van options. Prices for the Transporter T6.1 Sportline begin at £42,940 excluding VAT.
