Find Out More

Everyone is destined to get away this summer and UK road trips are set to soar. With individuals, couples, and families not comfortable to head abroad just yet, the need to feel safe and minimise contact with others is top priority. After a prolonged period of staying at home, people are ready to explore their own doorstep and discover the beautiful locations the UK has to offer. People want a sense of freedom, whether it is visiting village pubs, crabbing, or having fish and chips on the sea front for a much-needed recharge.

Predictions on popular road trip destinations within the UK 2021, whether that is a day trip, a long weekend, or a week by the sea.

Whitstable & Broadstairs, Kent Coastline - A classic fun filled summer holiday with neon lights, cheesy music, arcade games, fun fairs, ice cream, fish and chips and of course donuts on the pier. Whitstable and Broadstairs are no distance at all from London.

Yorkshire Dales - Well known for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge which included Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough mountains – a 24 mile walk within 12 hours.

St Ives, Cornwall

St Ives is a well-known family destination, one of Cornwall’s most popular and beloved locations in the South West. St Ives is well known for their beaches: Porthmeor, Porthminster, Porthgwidden and St Ives Harbour Beach. A boat trip 3.5 miles west of St Ives will take you to Seal Island, a home to a colony of grey seals.

Salcombe, South Devon - Salcombe is tucked away on the south coast of Devon, with a wide range of pubs and restaurants serving locally sourced seafood. Salcombe is famous for its crab, they even have their own crab festival!

Cambridgeshire - A bustling beautiful city with loads of independent restaurants and little boutiques. Punting along the river is always a winner and if you have time visit Ely Cathedral - you will not be disappointed.

Cotswolds - Beautiful English market towns and villages, a perfect place for walkers and cyclists. Ideal for a couples retreat, with an abundance of award winning spas, pubs and Michelin star restaurants. Visiting Blenheim Palace is a must and of course taking a ride on the steam train.

Lake District

The Lake District is just off the M6 motorway running to the east of the region. The National Park offers a wide range of water-sports including sailing and paddle boarding. It is also a well-known spot for hikers. Perfect to explore the twelve largest lakes in England including Lake Windermere.

Whitby, North Yorkshire - A wide range of activities including boat trips around the harbour, climb the 199 Church Stairs at Whitby Abbey, treat yourself to a Yorkshire ale at the micro-brewery and if you fancy a 6-mile drive visit Robin Hoods Bay, a small fishing village and a place to explore rock pools and ancient fossils.

West Sussex - A country in the South East England, a variety of places to explore, Chichester, Horsham, Crawley and Worthing.

Scotland’s far north coast or the circuit of Wales is proving popular with people booking fortnight-long trips. Luckily, the vaccine programme has increased booking confidence with adults within the UK and the UK holiday market will hopefully benefit from price sensitive consumers. Also, travelling within the UK is much more eco-friendly.
