BMW and MINI introduce charging points across the UK.

The BMW Group have launched one of the world’s largest public charging networks, using a RFID card or App. Customers have access to more than 11,000 charging points within the UK and 173,000 across Europe.

BMW and MINI drivers will have access to charging points from a range of operators including: bp pulse, ESB, Osprey, Source London and ChargePoint Network UK (includes INSTAVOLT) and many more.

The scheme will offer pay-as-you-go and monthly subscription packages depending on driver usage. Users will be able to see a breakdown of charging history on the App or on the charging website, where customers can also find charging points.

Customers who purchase a new fully-electric or plug-in hybrid BMW or MINI via a BMW or MINI Centre are offered the ‘bp pulse’ package for 12 months, or free. Customers who purchase a new BMW iX3 or BMW iX vehicle via a BMW Centre are also eligible for the ‘IONITY Plus’ package for 12 months, without a subscription fee.

BMW Electric Models

In January, BMW announced the all-new electric SUV, the BMW iX. They have also revealed two model variants, the BMW iX xDrive40 and the BMW iX xDrive50, which are expected to be available at the end of 2021. The models include a panoramic sunroof, 4D surround sound system and controlled shakers in the front seats. The models will also include the fifth generation BMW eDrive technology.

MINI Electric Models

The all-new MINI electric has a driving range of up to 145 miles and can charge in just over three hours with a wallbox charger installed at your home.

There are four different specifications: Level 1, which includes an 8.8.” display, Apple Car Play, MINI Connected and public charging locations, AC/DC charging and cruise control. Level 2 adds a driving assistant pack, Rear View Park Assist, heated seats and part leatherette interior. Level 3 boasts further specification equipment, including a head up display and wireless phone charging, LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, and a full leather interior. Collection tops the range with a multi-tone roof and a piano black exterior.
