Engine and M xDrive
M xDrive comes as standard with the configurable M xDrive system, which allows the driver to distribute power smoothly and precisely between the front and rear wheels, offering supreme performance at all times. This enables the drive generated by the 510hp 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine to be channelled to the road via the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and maximum traction, ensuring rapid acceleration. Drivers can also switch off the DSC system and engage in 2WD mode, where there is no intervention from the chassis control systems to stabilise the vehicle, giving skilled drivers a highly engaging driving experience.
Convertible roof
One of the special features of the new BMW M4 is the innovative new panel bow soft-top. It gives you the practical benefits of a retractable hardtop with the classic style of a fabric hood and is around 40% lighter than its predecessor’s retractable hardtop, giving you the best of both worlds. The electric drive mechanism allows it to be opened and closed while on the move, at speeds of up to 31mph, in just 18 seconds. When driving with the top down, the boot can hold 300 litres of luggage. When it’s closed, it can hold 385 litres.
