New Volkswagen Polo GTI - Performance, Technology & Sportiness

Volkswagen has presented the sixth generation of the Polo GTI, and it's Volkswagen's sportiest car yet.

Technology

IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist is new to the Polo GTI and enables driving to be semi-automated, allowing steering, braking, and accelerating from 0 km/h to 210 km/h. Adaptive cruise control, supported by lane, assist comes as standard. The system has to be activated on the steering wheel and the driver’s hands must remain on the steering wheel when the system is activated.

The latest generation infotainment system MIB3.1 is included in the Polo GTI. The model combines online connectivity with integrated eSIM to enable you to use online services from We Connect, which includes natural voice control, streaming services, and cloud-based personalisation using “Volkswagen ID”. Further features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which are now wireless. The digital cockpit impresses with a higher pixel density, improved contrast, and colours, with the screen measuring 10.25 inches.

Sportiness

The heart of the Polo GTI is its engine, and the new Polo GTI is a front-wheel-drive (FWD). The turbocharged, direct petrol injector changes gear via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG), which comes as standard. The engine is efficient with moderate fuel consumption levels.

The new Polo GTI comes with a sport chassis, which lowers the chassis by 15 millimeters and guarantees high driving performance. IQ.Light comes as standard, LED matrix headlights with an illuminated radiator grille bar. The rear lights have also been changed with animated brake lights and integrated dynamic indicators, which indicate a change in direction with flowing light movements.

The striking red GTI logo on the radiator grille, the honeycomb-shaped grille, and the red trim above the LED running light strip remain characteristics on the GTI.
