“it’s brilliant, inimitable and a bit of an enigma.”
Launched in late 2022, the new Civic Type R has been developed using the success of its predecessors. In its sixth generation and over 25 years since it first launched, the car has been refined and engineered to deliver the most exhilarating Civic Type R experience to date.
Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile at Honda UK, commented “We are delighted that the team at Autocar have recognised the thrill that driving the Type R delivers. There are lots of exciting advances taking place at Honda and the Type R is an example of using the successful history of the brand and concepts from our existing vehicles to ensure that we are launching products that are best in class.”
Autocar’s Deputy Road Test Editor, Richard Lane commented “The new Civic Type R is faster than its forebear and more capable; it’s more stable when you need it and more adjustable when you want it. With a plusher cabin and better rolling refinement, its everyday remit is also much stronger, and yet it lacks nothing of the old car’s sense of intent."
“It’s ‘fun’ but it’s also more than that: it’s brilliant, inimitable and a bit of an enigma.”
Honda Civic Type R recognised by British motoring magazine Autocar as ‘Best Fun Car’ at its 2023 Awards.
Judges praised the Civic Type R’s performance, refinement, and interior quality - commenting that “it’s brilliant, inimitable and a bit of an enigma.”.
The Autocar award joins recognition for the new Type R from TopGear.com, The Sunday Times and Carwow.
