Grey still UK's favourite new car colour.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has revealed that grey remains the most popular new vehicle colour in the UK for the third year in a row. Black and white were second and third respectively.
This highlights the popularity of the monochrome pallet as a choice for new vehicles, with more than 60% of all new vehicles purchased being painted one of these three colours.
In terms of preference, grey was the favourite choice overall, and specifically for diesel and petrol drivers. However, white was the most popular choice for zero emission battery electric vehicles and black was the most popular with plug-in hybrid drivers.
The brighter colours in the top ten, which includes red, orange, green and bronze have had a torrid year. Particularly the colour red, which saw its worst level of registrations in that particular tint since 1997, registering fewer than 200,000 vehicles.
